Present scenario of Education System in India

Difference in provision for Schooling in India
We say that we are proud of being Indian because we are from a rich cultural background, that we are great philosophers, that we have best family system, that we are blessed with very oldest and refined religion belief, that we had oldest schools and universities with developed education system. But till today we have not counted in list of developed countries. What are the reasons behind it? What I feel our education system is an uncertain movement towards its objectives of achieving comprehensive growth.

Some facts come to the fronts are India is blessed with nearly 90 million people who are joining the work but most of them with lack requisite skills and the way of thinking for productive employment according to a report in DNA. We are provided with about 550 million people under the age of 25 years out of which only 11% are joining in tertiary institutions compared to the world average of 23%.

Now the Indian literacy rate is at 68%  which is  below the world average literacy rate of 84%,  and India currently is bearing the largest illiterate population of any nation on earth. The literacy is increasing sluggishly despite of different government programs and  it is estimated that it would take until 2060 for India to reach the universal literacy with such current rate of progress.

I think we have many blind believes that we are leader in many streams. You just view the Literacy Charts which includes some Asian Countries listed below and ask yourself.

World Average 84%

China : 93.3% (2007)
Sri Lanka 90.8 (2007)
Burma 89.9% (2007)
Iran 82.4% (2007)
India 66.0% (2007)
Nepal 56.5 (2007)
Pakistan 54.2 (2007)
Bangladesh 53.5 (2007)

Many Debaters are repeating the same drawbacks of India’s public education system in every day discussion. But due to lack of proper and timely measures, it is leading to another social issue of income dissimilarities and hampering national strength. The study's conclusions will reinforce claims that distribution of the wealth generated by India's rapid economic growth – recently around 10% year on year – is deeply unequal.
